The Galaxy A8 comes with an even larger 5.7-inch compared to the iPhone 6 Plus, giving rise to concerns it may exhibit some of the bending issues the iPhone 6 Plus has been reported to suffer.

The front of the device, with full HD AMOLED display and a 1080 x 1920 resolution, appears as a scaled up version of the Galaxy S6, with rounded corners and a metal frame with thin side bezels surrounding it.

The pearl white finish at the back holds the smartphone's speaker, camera and flash, similar to the Galaxy S3 models, except with the speaker and flash trading places on the Galaxy A8.

Samsung's new smartphone will hold an S615 octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor under the hood, with 2G of RAM, an expandable 16GB worth of internal storage, a 16MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front camera, and a 3,050mAh battery running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

The Galaxy A8 will have LTE support, measure 157.7 x 76.7 x 5.9mm, and weigh 140g.

Pricing information for the device and its official launch date is yet to be released, but it has been announced the South Korean electronics manufacturer's new handheld is solely intended for Asian markets and won't be distributed in North America.
