'Luke Cage' Release Date, Cast News: Netflix Hints At November Release; Rosario Dawson To Have 'Significant' Part

Netflix has oh-so-playfully teased a release date for its forthcoming "Luke Cage" Marvel series.

A photo posted to the official "Jessica Jones" Twitter page on Monday, Jan. 25, shows what may be Jones' desk at her Alias Investigations office, and on the desk is a folder marked "Cage - November." Could this be an indication that the much anticipated Luke Cage show will finally be airing this November?

As Marvel fans know, the superhero, played by Mike Colter, first appeared in the first season of "Jessica Jones." Development for "Luke Cage," the third Marvel series on Netflix, reportedly began in late 2013. Cheo Hodari Coker, who is developing the series, will also serve as showrunner.

Meanwhile, Colter recently revealed that Rosario Dawson, who has played the role of nurse Claire Temple in both of Netflix's current Marvel Cinematic Universe television series, "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones," will be playing a "significant" role in "Luke Cage."

"She's going to serve a very significant part of the Luke Cage story," Colter told IGN and other members of the press at the Television Critics Association's 2016 winter press tour. "Not overwhelmingly so, but you will definitely be satisfied with the amount of screen time you see."

"She's definitely going to be someone that's going to have a large storyline and help out a lot," he revealed.

The part is said to be important enough to the "Luke Cage" story that even her mother will be a part of the series. According to IGN, actress Sonia Braga has been cast as Soledad Temple, Claire's mom.

Netflix has not announced an official release date for "Luke Cage," though it is expected to air sometime this year. "Jessica Jones," which was recently renewed for a second season, is also expected to air at some point in 2016 or 2017. The second season of "Daredevil," the first Marvel Cinematic Universe television series created for Netflix, will premiere on March 18.
