Maria Shriver Files for Divorce From Schwarzenegger
Maria Shriver, soon to be ex-wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger, has filed for divorce after 25 long years of marriage.
E! News confirmed on Friday that Shriver, who has been separated from the former California governor since January, filed for divorce at a Los Angeles Superior Court, citing the popular, but in this case understated, reason of “irreconcilable differences.”
Shriver seeks spousal support and joint custody of their 17-year old son, Patrick, and 13-year-old, Christopher. They have two other adult children together. The formal First Lady of California is expected to receive half of their assets according to California law since no prenuptial was signed before their marriage in 1986. She could receive up to $200 million.

The divorce is no surprise to the public with former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger admitting to not only infidelity, but having a secret love child that is now 13 years old. He announced in May that he had fathered a child out of wedlock.
A day after the announcement was made it was revealed that long-time housekeeper Mildred Patricia “Patty” Baena was the mistress in question. Schwarzenegger and Baena have a 13-year-old son together, born merely five days after the birth of his youngest son with Shriver.
Schwarzenegger said in a statement in May, "After leaving the governor's office, I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago.”
He added, “I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry."
There have been no comments from either party so far.
