Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan Are 'Twosome From Hell' for Criticizing Donald Trump, Says Fox Business Anchor
Fox Business anchor, Lou Dobbs ripped into Mitt Romney and House Speaker Paul Ryan who formed the failed 2012 Republican presidential ticket as the "twosome from hell" Thursday for criticizing 2016 GOP presidential frontrunner.
"A few thoughts now on the Republican establishment and the elites who are working not only to ruin the candidacy of Donald Trump but also to subvert the will of voters, voters who've given Trump victories in 10 out of 15 primary contests so far," began Dobbs on his Lou Dobbs Tonight show Thursday.
In a speech calling for the GOP to rally around a candidate other than Trump, Romney called his party's presidential frontrunner "a fraud."

"If we Republicans choose Donald Trump as our nominee, the prospects for a safe and prosperous future are greatly diminished … First on the economy. If Donald Trump's plans were ever implemented, the country would sink into prolonged recession. A few examples. His proposed 35 percent tariff-like penalties would instigate a trade war and that would raise prices for consumers, kill our export jobs and lead entrepreneurs and businesses of all stripes to flee America," said Romney.
"Here's what I know. Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University," he added.
Dobbs did not appreciate Romney's fighting words.
"Who does Romney think he is? Romney is nothing more now obviously than the tool of an ossified far too entitled Republican establishment. A Washington cartel of K Street and Wall Street lobbyists led by the Chamber of Commerce, the business roundtable," he said.
"That's right, the same cartel, the same establishment that has orchestrated two presidential election cycles of losses. Most recently that of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, both of whom have attacked Trump with greater energy than they ever mustered for President Obama, for example. Romney today spent nearly 18 minutes savaging Trump in his speech in Salt Lake City. Trump was quick to swat Romney away as irrelevant and a failed candidate," he added.
Dobbs then turned his attention to Ryan for not speaking the truth.
"Meanwhile, the other half of Hell's ticket, Paul Ryan, now as usual is spewing clichés and distortion. Ryan and Romney hardly giving a thought to their attacks on Trump amounting to a campaign gift to Hillary Clinton and the Democrats. Don't worry your little heads about that they said," continued Dobbs before calling out the GOP for trying to subvert the will of the people.
"After Romney and Ryan lost the 2012 election, the RNC conducted an exhaustive study on how the Republican ticket managed to lose the most winnable election in decades. And among the recommendation of that report: 'Washington should not try to dictate candidate choices. Voters will ultimately decide,'" he said.
"Do they read their own reports?" asked Dobbs. "Of course not. The Republican establishment, party elites and donors, they don't get it and so they defend the stagnant, failed status quo. Romney and Ryan blew the election last time throwing it to a president compatible with their cultured failure. But this time they are up against a winner and Trump is the people's choice to this point. And the twosome from hell is going to lose another one if they have their way," he ended.
