Moto 360 vs Samsung Gear S Comparison, Review of Specs: Faster Gear S Wins Over Stylish Moto 360
The battle of smartwatches still rages on even without the Apple Watch, which is slated for an early 2015 release. While Samsung has been around the smartwatch market for quite some time, Motorola's first offering has given the latest Samsung Gear S a fight worth taking. How will the stylish round-faced Moto 360 fare against the square-faced Gear S?
The Moto 360 first made it to the U.S. on September while the Gear S made its debut on October. In terms of pricing, the Motorola smartwatch is priced at $250 while the Gear S sells for almost $500.
First, spec-sheets. The Gear S is currently the biggest among Samsung's Gear line with a 2.0-inch curved Super AMOLED screen with a display resolution of 480 x 360 pixels. Inside the smartwatch is a dual-core 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. The device can be fitted with a sim card which allows the watch to perform calls and texts without having to be paired with a smartphone.

The Gear S doesn't run on Android Wear anymore like its predecessors and runs instead on a Tizen-based wearable OS platform.
The Moto 360 on the other hand has a 1.56-inch IPS circular touchscreen with a display resolution of 320 x 290 pixels. Inside, the smartwatch runs on an OMAP 3 processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The OMAP 3 processor is a four year old tech which causes some running issues with how the Moto 360 runs.
While the Moto 360 is certainly stylish with its round-face type design, it's slow processing speed and problematic battery duration makes it lag behind the faster and more capable Gear S.
