Murdered Florida Woman's Body Found Under Christmas Gifts‎

A Florida woman confessed to police that she murdered a 67-year-old woman, who took her in when she needed it most, and left her body under a pile of Christmas presents.

Patty White, 40, was taken in by Michele O’ Dowd in her Jacksonville home when she fell on rough economic times.

Police received word that White was suspected of the vicious crime. On Saturday, York police pulled over a vehicle in which White was riding. White agreed to be interviewed by detectives, where she confessed to murdering O’Dowd, according to the police report. Soon after, she was arrested.

Jacksonville Police said White admitted stealing two of O’Dowd’s charge cards following the murder, and attempting to pilfer money out of her account from at least two local ATM’s.

The victim’s twin brother, who found the body the same day of the murder, told WTEV in tears: "There is nothing worse than when you walk inside and find your own sister brutally murdered over a stupid debit card."

Police said that White was apparently a friend of the O’Dowd family.

While the case is a homicide case, formal charges have yet to be filed against White. White is currently being held at the York County Detention Center.

York Police Chief Andy Robinson told CBS Charlotte that more than likely White would not fight extradition to Florida, where she will receive the murder charge. He also added that White would most likely be extradited to Florida sometime this week.

Word on what sparked the vicious crime and how exactly the elderly woman was killed has yet to be released.
