NBA Lockout: Aged Celtics Should be 'Happy,' Says Tiger Woods

The Boston Celtics should be happy about the current NBA lockout, according to Tiger Woods.

When questioned about the lockout during the recent Chevron World Challenge Media Day, Woods said he was not happy about the lockout. However, the golfer added that Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers should feel good about it.

“Yeah, of course I'm bummed,” Woods told the media. “I think anybody who is an NBA fan is certainly bummed.”

“I know that probably one person who is happy is probably Doc Rivers. I mean, with the age of his team, it's nice for them to only play half-a-season. It's true. It's a fact, come on,” he stated.

Woods, a California native, said he is excited for the opportunity to see his hometown Lakers play.

“But as far as us out west, I'm looking forward to the Lakers getting back there and we'll see what they do,” Woods added.

However, the former world championship golfer said the lockout was preventing him and other NBA fans from keeping up with their favorite teams.

“The problem is, you can't talk to anybody,” Woods said. “You can't see who is potentially on the block of being traded, what kind of deals can we do? Nothing can be happening.”

Although Woods admitted to being a fan of the sport, he also spoke about the issues existing for owners and smaller market teams.

“I know the owners were losing a bunch of money, and some of the markets were feeling the effects,” the golfer said. “They can't draw certain players, so they're just trying to make it fair for everybody so everybody can win.”

In the end, the golfer gave a neutral answer concerning the lockout and speculated from both the perspectives of a fan and business owner.

“As a fan, it's disconcerting because I'm excited about what we could add to the team, but it's also I understand this is business, and everyone in this business wants to make money.”
