New Reality Show Allows Women to 'Surrender the Secret' of Abortion, Find God's Forgiveness

"Surrender the Secret", a new reality television slated to premiere on KnockTV in Jan. 2013, takes a fresh approach to the pro-life movement by following the journey of five women as they seek to find forgiveness from God for their past abortions.

The five women – Jill , Vanessa, Courtney, Jane, and Kelly – embark on an abortion-specific Bible study together during the ten episodes of the show's season.

Geoffrey Rogers, president and CEO of KnockTV, a new online Christian television network, said that by "surrendering" their abortion "secret," each woman is allowed to see the forgiveness of God.

"We see them coming to the show with the pain and the grief they have, and we see them come through to the healing and forgiveness of God," Rogers told The Christian Post.

The main message of the show is two-fold, according to Rogers. The first message is to show women suffering from the consequences of an abortion that there is "light at the end of the tunnel," and the second message is to show women of the next generation of pregnancy that abortion is not the answer.

"There's healing and hope available to women who have had abortion. Tens of millions of Christian women who have had an abortion are keeping it a secret. This pain is so deeply buried inside of them," Rogers said.

"The truth of the effects of abortion never really gets to the ears of younger women before they become pregnant," he continued.

"The show is going to show them that abortion hurts women, and if they become pregnant, abortion is not the right choice because of the long-lasting effects."

Jill Marquis, one of the women featured in the program, told CP that the most rewarding aspect of the abortion-focused Bible study was feeling God's forgiveness.

"As you work through the Bible study, you kind of have to go backwards instead of moving forwards, so you look back at some of the choices that brought you to your abortion," she said. "You talk about your anger, including your anger at the people who may have been involved with your decision. You deal with forgiveness, receiving Christ's forgiveness and forgiving others."

Marquis also told CP that she feels it is important for women to see the shocking consequences of abortion that are not talked about in mainstream society.

For Marquis, some of her most shocking realizations post-abortion included a fear that she would lose her next child as a punishment from God, therefore resulting in her detachment from her children when they were younger.

Ultimately, along with finding a sense of God's forgiveness, the Bible study allowed Marquis to also grieve her aborted child.

"When you actually get to grieve the loss of your child or children, when you have that opportunity to actually name your child and you can grieve that baby by name, that is something that society has not allowed us to do. That for me was the most important part," Marquis told CP.

"Surrender the Secret", which is being produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Cecil Strokes, whose latest project was "October Baby", will premiere on KnockTV.com on Jan. 22, 2013, the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court ruling which legalized abortion in the United States.
