'Old Man Logan' Prequel Features 'Old Man Hawk-Eye'

It seems that the old men of the Marvel franchise still have one good fight left in them with "Old Man Logan" getting a prequel featuring "Old Man Hawk-Eye."

Announced by the New York Daily News, 12-issue miniseries will be written by Daily News reporter Ethan Sacks and illustrated by Marco Chechetto. Marvel has already released the cover art for the first issue which is set to be released in January next year. The cover art featured an aged Hawk-Eye holding his signature bow.

The series will take place five years prior to the events of "Old Man Logan." The comic will feature a version of the bow-toting Marvel hero, still with his sight, as he goes on one last heroic journey.

"In this story, he's losing his vision and that sort of forces him to confront something really horrible that happened to him personally 45 years ago, and go on his own hero's journey while he still can," Sacks told the Daily News. "It's very much like a ticking clock that's forcing him into action."

In the original comic written by Mark Millar, "Hawk-Eye" was notably without his vision, having lost it due to cataracts before meeting up with Logan. Still, his blindness didn't stop him from showcasing his skill with a bow while serving as Logan's partner in the comic.

Interestingly, after surviving the events of Secret Wars, the actual character of Old Man Logan currently exists in the primary Marvel Universe. This has made the book a piece with an ongoing interest in modern Marvel with the world of "Old Man Logan" that Millar first created.

The "Old Man Logan" comic series served as the main inspiration for Hugh Jackman's final Wolverine film "Logan" and therefore draws heavily from Millar's comic. Hawk-Eye wasn't included in the film though due to the fact that Disney had the rights to the character through the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
