'Persona 5' Release Date: Updated On New Story Themes

Upcoming role-playing video game "Persona 5" is making some of the fans excited to play it already. Fortunately, it will be coming soon and they will just have to be a little patient to wait for it. According to Venture Capital Post, the game will be released sometime in summer 2016 in Japan and North America. It will be made available to play on PS3 and PS4.

While waiting for the sixth installment of the series, game director Katsura Hashino teased some details about the game's story. He even revealed some narrative themes and some of the things that makes the project so unique.

In an exclusive interview conducted by Game Informer, Hashino detailed that "Persona 5's" player agency is not like that of the previous titles. The protagonist and his group of teenage pals will not be starting off in a place where they need to resolve a case or a major crisis. Instead, the story starts off with each of them looking for "a sense of identity."

"It's quite different from the previous games' protagonists who had no choice but to solve the mysteries they were confronted with. We think that sense of agency is one of the charms of this title, and as developers, it's one of the aspects we're most excited to bring to you," said Hashino in the interview.

The game director also spilled that each of the characters feel like they don't fit into society anymore. That's why when they got hold of the Isekai-Navi, they were able to go into another world where they found themselves becoming "phantom thieves" and experiencing the sense of belonging that they were looking for.

He also talked about the protagonist's relationship with Morgana, who is described by Hashino as someone pursuing a particular objective. The character also regards the protagonist's awakened power of Persona in a sensible way and because of this, Morgana stays close to the protagonist and offers guidance. Hashino did not go into further details but he did mention that compared to the previous titles, the relationship of the two is much closer now.
