Phoenix Suns Injury Rumors: Eric Bledsoe Sprains Left Knee in Loss to the Sixers
The Phoenix Suns did not only lose to the NBA's worst team, they also lost a major contributor in Eric Bledsoe to injury. The team's starting point guard and leading scorer appeared to have injured his left knee during the team's sorry loss to the lowly Sixers on Saturday, dealing a huge blow to their early season campaign.
It's a kind of night that no organization or franchise in the league would want to remember, but it sure did happen to the Suns; and what's even worse is that it appears to be serious with him expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks.
The team later revealed that Bledsoe suffered a torn meniscus on his left knee; a type of injury to which he isn't a stranger to. Back in 2011, the playmaker also tore a meniscus, but it was on his right knee. He also went under the knife to remove a damaged meniscus three years after, forcing him to get away from basketball and physical contact for several months.
Meanwhile, this latest setback will force the six-year veteran to have surgery, which the Suns organization said will be performed on Tuesday by the team's resident orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tom Carter.
Losing Bledsoe to injury is never good news for Phoenix, which by the way has been struggling to find their identity this season. Head coach Jeff Hornacek has to work and be contented with what he still has, including backup guard Brandon Knight and two other point guards in Archie Goodwin and Devin Booker. The problem is if those three can produce Bledsoe's numbers of 20.4 points per game, 6.1 assists, and 4.0 rebounds.
It also does not help that they belong in the Western Conference, where getting a spot in the top 8 is a lot more challenging compared to the East. The Suns currently hold a record of 12-20, which is good for 12th place.
