Planned Parenthood performed over 390,000 abortions while receiving nearly $700 million in government grants and reimbursements, according to its latest annual report for 2022-2023.

Pro-life activists say the findings appear consistent with the long-term trend of the nation's largest abortion provider performing more abortions and providing fewer health services.

According to Planned Parenthood's 2022-2023 annual report, the corporation performed 392,715 abortions and provided less than 2,000 adoption referrals. The organization also offered over 30,000 fewer Pap tests than recorded for 2021-2022. Additionally, preventative care visits also declined by over 30%.

Despite the decline in health services, Planned Parenthood reported receiving $699.3 million in government grants and reimbursements, an increase from the $670.4 million documented in its 2021-2022 annual report.

Michael New, an assistant professor of practice at the Busch School of Business at the Catholic University of America, wrote in an analysis Wednesday that Planned Parenthood's annual reports "consistently provide solid evidence that Planned Parenthood continues to prioritize abortion."

New, a senior associate scholar at the pro-life research organization Charlotte Lozier Institute, found that Planned Parenthood performed 228 abortions for every adoption referral in 2023.

"Between 2022 and 2023, preventive-care visits fell by 31.0 percent, pap tests fell by 13.5 percent, cancer screenings fell by 1.4 percent, and adoption referrals fell by 4.5 percent," New wrote in his analysis published by National Review

"All of this is consistent with Planned Parenthood's long-term trend of performing more abortions and providing fewer health services," the pro-life scholar continued. "In fact, in the past ten years, the number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood has increased by 20 percent."

In his analysis of Planned Parenthood's 2021-2022 report, New found that the corporation's prenatal services declined by 29% and miscarriage care fell by 5%. In addition, adoption referrals fell by 7%, STI tests fell by over 2% and pregnancy tests fell by 3.7%.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the national anti-abortion activist organization Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, asserted in a statement that Planned Parenthood's latest annual report shows that its "business is abortion, abortion and more abortion."

"Once again, pregnant women who walk into Planned Parenthood are sold an abortion 97% of the time, rather than helped to keep their child or make an adoption plan. Meanwhile, they saw 80,000 fewer patients, provided 60,000 fewer pap tests and breast exams, and even gave out less contraception," Dannenfelser said.

"As a reward, Democrats in Washington and in the states sent them almost $700 million from the taxpayers — one third of their revenue — to end the fiscal year with $2.5 billion in net assets," she added.

Dannenfelser cited the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's list of the leading causes of death in the United States, which includes deaths from heart disease, cancer and COVID-19, noting that unborn babies aborted by Planned Parenthood outnumber many of them.

"This puts abortions performed by Planned Parenthood in the top four leading causes of death in the United States, after heart disease, cancer and COVID-19," she wrote.

The SBA Pro-Life America president cited a July 2023 Open Secrets article that reported Planned Parenthood outspends other abortion-related groups when it comes to federal lobbying efforts. According to the report, Planned Parenthood spent over $500,000 to lobby the federal government in the first three months of 2023 alone.

"Planned Parenthood dropped this bombshell report while many Americans are still recovering from tax day. Any family that hasn't been living under a rock has noticed that basic necessities get more expensive by the day," Dannenfelser said, criticizing Democrats and abortion proponents for working to strip funding to pregnancy resource centers.

"Bidenomics has turned into abortionomics. Just like their hero Margaret Sanger, their 'solution' to the struggle of families to keep their heads above water is to kill their children and let the abortion industry rake in record profits," the pro-life leader stated. "Our team will work tirelessly to expose the Democrats' extremism and defeat them in November."
