Poll: Trayvon Martin Shooter George Zimmerman Should Be Arrested
In the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting last month there have been countless reports and opinions from all around the nation, but a new poll shows that everyday Americans believe that the man responsible for Martin's death should be arrested.
The poll, which was conducted by CNN and ORC International, was released Monday and showed more than 70 percent of people surveyed feel that George Zimmerman should be arrested.
Zimmerman admitted to fatally shooting Martin on February 26.

The poll also showed that three out of every four people believe that neighborhood watch volunteers should not be allowed to carry guns.
73 percent of people questioned in the survey stated that George Zimmerman should be arrested, with 11 percent disagreeing and 16 percent unsure.
"Nearly two-thirds of whites and 86 percent of non-whites say Zimmerman should be arrested … as well as majorities of Republicans, Democrats and independent voters," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.
Zimmerman stated that while he was patrolling his gated community he spotted Martin, who looked "suspicious." Zimmerman called 911 and was told it was not necessary for him to follow Martin, but he continued anyway.
A few moments later, several neighbors called 911 to report a disturbance out in the street, but by the time police arrived, Martin had already died from his gunshot wound.
According to police, Zimmerman stated that as he was approaching Martin, he claimed that Martin attacked him, and he was forced to defend himself, which resulted in him shooting the unarmed teen.
Sanford authorities explained that they could not legally arrest Zimmerman due to Florida's "stand your ground" law, which states that in situations where a person's life is feared to be in danger or that there is a risk of death that it is allowed for the person to use lethal force to defend themselves.
