Rebecca St.James' 'Strange Brand of Happy' Opens in Theaters Across the U.S.

Christian singer Rebecca St. James starred in the movie, "A Strange Brand of Happy," which opened this weekend.

St. James stars alongside, Shirley Jones, from 70s cult classic, "The Partridge Family."

"I grew up in Australia surrounded by music as one of seven children whose dad was a concert promoter, so when the reruns of 'The Partridge Family' reached us from American TV the idea of watching this cool musical mom and five kids who sang and travelled together as a band was an instant hit in my world," said St. James in a press release. "Shirley Jones is even more wonderful than I anticipated she'd be and it was such a thrill to get to meet her and to be with her in this film."

"A Strange Brand of Happy," was written and directed by Brad Wise, and pits St. James as a life coach and love interest of a man looking for a better life personally and spiritually.

"'A Strange Brand of Happy' is a fun, funny romantic comedy with a subtle faith theme. We made it so people could have a good time with their friends and maybe have a conversation or two about the big things of life- things like love, meaning, happiness, God, pancakes ... you get the idea," an email description of the film from St. James creative team read.

The film was released on September 13.

The singer/actress, originally from Australia, has released nine albums since 1991, and has been performing since she was 10.

St. James has three GMA Dove Awards and one Grammy for "Best Rock Gospel Album," in addition to being the author of 11 books.
