Rex Ryan Involved in Accident After Running Red Light? No Injuries Reported

Beleaguered New York Jets coach Rex Ryan was involved in three-car accident in western Pennsylvania, but no injuries were reported.

A Jets spokesman stated on Tuesday that Ryan was given a warning and no citation by police for his part in the accident that occurred on Jan. 14 in Bethlehem, Penn., which is about 20 miles from the team's practice facility in Florham Park, N.J. Reports indicate that occupants of the two other cars involved were not injured.

Bethlehem Police revealed in an incident report that Ryan was driving a Ford Mustang at 6:13 p.m. when he collided with another vehicle. One witness told police he saw Ryan pass through a red light just a few moments before the accident, which caused the impacted car to strike another vehicle. Police added they did not believe Ryan was speeding at the time.

Several news reports speculated that Ryan was in the Bethlehem area to meet with new offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, who was previously with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Jets have a press conference on Thursday which Ryan is expected to attend. The Jets are expected to formally introduce the team's new general manager John Idzik, who was hired to replace the fired Mike Tannenbaum last Friday.

Ryan led the Jets to a mediocre record 6-10 after going 8-8 the previous season. All season long, Ryan was questioned over his use of second-string quarterback Tim Tebow. After Mark Sanchez's poor performance, the coach was even petitioned to start Tebow.

A few Jets fans took to Change.org to create a petition named, "Calling all football fans of the NY Jets tired of seeing their team lose!: Bench Mark Sanchez and make Tim Tebow a starting Quarterback!"

"I think they should just start Tim Tebow, it honestly can't get any worse than what happened yesterday," one fan previously wrote on Twitter. "Plus Tebow has been to the playoffs."
