R.I.C.H. Boys' Debut Album: A Lot of Jesus, Swag

The R.I.C.H. (Resting in Christ’s Hands) Boys recently released their debut album, From Rags to Riches. Brian Anthony Molino, Denzel Skeete, and Travis Reece comprise the hip hop trio hailing from Queens, N.Y.

The band members first met while attending a youth retreat, where they all heard the gospel and gave their lives to Jesus Christ. Although the retreat is where they made a decision to follow Christ, it was returning and submitting themselves to the discipleship of veteran Christian hip hop artist Richie Righteous that helped them to stay on the path of Christ.

“Rich just took us under his wing and made sure that we were accountable for everything that we do. He really was strict on us, like an older brother ... He really made sure that we kept the word and learned it for ourselves,” said Skeete.

This type of guidance and leadership is what they hope to communicate to their generation through their debut project. They describe the album as:

“A lot of Jesus. A lot of swag ... It gives you the ups and the downs. It [gives] you a lot of our personal testimony...You get a little bit of everything” said Brian. Denzel continued by saying “ ...You get to see the real us through this album. [Its] a lot of quality in here. We put out good music. And of course, its kingdom music so you know its the best.”

Travis further elaborates their goals on the album’s second single “Ready to Ride”: ”Yea man, I’m ready to ride/ The holy word in mouth instead of the side/ My generation on my back, so I’m ready to guide.”

Guiding this generation is no easy task in what fellow Christian rapper Lecrae sees as a crisis in urban culture’s definition of manhood.
