'Rock Band 4' Update: Leaderboard Scores To Be Wiped Out To Fix 'Gnarly Bugs'

Gamers of music video game "Rock Band 4" will have to brace themselves for some changes come 2016. It's nothing major but it will definitely affect the online leaderboard scores. According to PC Mag Asia, developer Harmonix will be taking some drastic measures to combat issues in the game.

The developers revealed through a post in their official blog site that "Rock Band 4" came with a handful of "gnarly bugs." Because of these bugs, Harmonix said that "experienced drummers can double-deploy overdrive by hitting the green 'Overdrive' gems at the end of dynamic drum fills."

The problem put into question the integrity of the leaderboards because the scores were inaccurate and it only pushes players with the bug to the top while those who were not fortunate enough to catch on to the bug got left behind.

In order to solve the impreciseness, Harmonix came up with a detailed plan for dealing with the bugs in the game. Unfortunately, it will involve resetting all of the online rankings. They will need to wipe out the leaderboards for every song. But it is noted that the do-over will not include the data on the gamer's local saves and they can still hold on to the 'song plays' stat visible on the Player Stats screen.

The team behind the game is hoping to bring some improvements that "affect almost every song, instrument and difficulty in the game." Part of their plan also is to make some improvements to their code. Through this particular action, they will be able to focus on song-specific bugs and call for specific leaderboard wipes in the future.

In other news, Engadget detailed that for this holiday season, owners of the new game will now be able to import tracks from "Rock Band 3." Importing from the other older versions including "Lego Rock Band" will also be possible to do beginning January.
