Samsung Galaxy Nexus: Coming to Verizon 'Later This Year'
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is closer to an official United States release date.
Verizon Wireless, the exclusive U.S. carrier for the Galaxy Nexus, announced on Oct. 22 that the smartphone would be available “later this year.”
“Verizon Wireless today announced that the Galaxy Nexus by Samsung, the world’s first smartphone running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is coming to Verizon Wireless,” said Verizon in a statement.

The Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich operating system were unveiled at Samsung’s “Mobile Unpacked: Google Episode” media event on Oct. 19.
The impressive features between the touch screen smartphone and its operating system include Robato, Face Unlock, Android Beam, and NFC technology that allows users to share information by touching their phones together.
“Customers can take advantage of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network to access more than 300,000 apps and games from Android Market; or rent movies and stream them instantly on the 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED; display,” Verizon said.
Verizon Wireless is the exclusive U.S. carrier for the Galaxy Nexus. However, various reports have claimed AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile may be carriers in the future. Japan’s NTT DoCoMo network will also carry the Galaxy Nexus.
A United Kingdom carrier has yet to be revealed; however, Clove.co.uk, a tech website, recently confirmed that the Galaxy Nexus will be released through them on Nov. 17.
The unlocked Galaxy Nexus will cost $515 in the U.K, and Clove.co.uk is currently accepting pre-orders.
