Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket Vs. Motorola Droid 4

With the release of the Motorola Droid 4 on Verizon, high-end Android smartphones on carriers such as AT&T have some fierce competition arriving to the market.

One of these smartphones that is also 4G LTE and can stand up to the new Droid 4 in terms of specifications is the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket on AT&T.

Both of these devices are impressive and run on lighting fast networks, however each device has its advantages and disadvantages. Here is a comparison of both the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and Droid 4 in various areas including speed, display and design.

Design

While the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket features a thin and light frame, the Droid 4 incorporates a full QWERTY keyboard while still maintaining a sleek design and nice look. The Droid 4 is one of the only Android devices with a keyboard. The Skyrocket is a larger touch-screen device featuring a larger screen.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket features a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels. The Droid 4's display is slight step-up from the Skyrocket's with a 960x540 pixel resolution. The Skyrocket does take the cake when it comes to size, since the Droid 4's screen size is only four inches.

Speed

In terms of speed, the Skyrocket is slightly faster including a dual-core 1.5GHz processor while the Droid 4 packs a dual-core 1.2GHz processor making it less powerful.

Memory

Both devices come with 16GB of internal memory with the option to expand another 32GB with a microSD card.

Camera

Both devices feature a rear 8-megapixel camera that is capable of capturing video in 1080p HD. They also both have front cameras with the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket packing 2-megapixel shooter and the Droid 4 with 1.3-megapixel.

Software

Both of these devices run on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread and should be able to upgrade to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich when the update for the both handsets is released.

Price

The final comparison on these two devices will be their prices. The Droid 4 is available on Verizon for $199.99 with a new agreement and the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket is available through AT&T for $149.99 with a new contract.
