Samsung Galaxy S3 Release Date Planned for Spring 2012

Analysts in the tech industry were expecting Samsung to unveil its Galaxy S3 smartphone at this year's Mobile World Congress, but it seems that fans will have to wait a little longer, according to the Verge.

The media outlet has stated that sources close to Samsung have revealed that the company will postpone the device's debut a little longer, but it is likely to arrive before the beginning of the summer.

There is no official confirmation from Samsung regarding the S3, but the sources expect it to launch during the spring of this year. The Verge reports that the tech giant made this decision to delay based on its desire to have the S3's unveiling and launch occur around the same time.

Last year, the Galaxy S2 was unveiled at MWC, but wasn't made available to consumers until three months later, and that was only in Europe. The handset did not launch in the U.S. until September of 2011, nearly seven months after its unveiling.

Samsung is rumored to be revealing other devices at this year's Mobile World Congress including quad-core tablets and some Windows devices. As of right now, nothing has been confirmed.

The rumored specifications for the Galaxy S3 include 2GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel camera, NFC, 4G LTE and a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED HD display.
