Sandlot Reunion: Photos Show Cast Members of Iconic Kid Baseball Movie (Trailer Video)

A Sandlot reunion has taken place to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the hugely popular and iconic baseball movie.

Various members of the cast gathered together on Saturday and had fun recreating some of the most popular scenes from the summer baseball classic film, which was originally released in 1993.

Some of the biggest names were unable to make it however, including Tom Guiry, who played the main character Scotty "Smalls," and Mike Vitar, who played the team's star player, "Benny the Jet" Rodriguez.

It is reported that Vitar no longer works in the entertainment business, and has become a firefighter in Los Angeles.

Those who were available descended on Salt Lake City – the location where the film was shot more than two decades ago. Those who were able to make it included Patrick Renna ("Ham"), Chauncey Leopardi ("Squints") and Shane Obedzinski, who played "Repeat" in the movie.

Writer and director David M. Evans was also in attendance, and amazingly a mass of 12,000 fans of the movie turned out to see stars of the iconic film.

One of the most dramatic events of the reunion, however, was when Evans proposed to his girlfriend – she of course accepted to create an even more festival-like atmosphere at the Sandlot reunion.

The Sandlot was not a big theater blockbuster at the time it was released, but it gained a massive cult following when it became a home movie film, released on VHS and on television. A generation of young viewers loved the film for its innocence and portrayal of childhood life.

Speaking about The Sandlot film earlier this year, Guiry said, "I think what it does is it brings people back to a time in their lives that it was fun and kind of innocent. They didn't have to worry about bills and work. It was a carefree time of everyone's life. It's fun to watch people reminisce about it," according to The Huffington Post.

The Sandlot reunion does not end there, and the cast will be touring across the country in select cities and dates. To see if you are near one and can attend, a list of dates and locations is shown by clicking here.
