Solar Energy for Obama Starts the Discussion on Renewable Energy

President Obama has started a four state two day tour to sure up confidence in his "all-above" energy plan in order to silence critics who have claimed that his energy policies are causing the high gas prices.

The president made his first stop in Nevada to highlight his administration's support of fostering an energy policy that utilizes all manner of green resources in an effort to wean America from its reliance on foreign oil.

Obama's energy policy calls for an "all of the above" approach which he believes will foster the growth of alternative energy sources while also utilizing oil and natural gas, with the help of federal tax and spending incentives.

"And, yes, that means we make investments in stuff that is new and we stop subsidizing stuff that's old," the president told supporters at the nation's largest solar energy installation, Sempra Energy's Copper Mountain Solar 1 Facility.

Touting his polices as modern and in line with the direction of the American people, the president highlighted the Republican support of oil subsidies.

"The current members of the flat earth society in Congress, they would rather see us continue to provide $4 billion - $4 billion - in tax subsidies, tax giveaways, to the oil companies," the president remarked. "Every time you fill up at the pump, they're making money."

Republicans were quick to respond citing government subsidized companies that went bankrupt, most notably solar panel maker Solyndra.

Yet the president explained that in business some things work and some things don't. "Each successive generation recognizes that some technologies are going to work; some won't," he said. "Some companies will fail; some companies will succeed."

The president said that keeping up with rivals was very important. "I'm not going to give up on the new to cede our position to China or Germany or all the other competitors out there who are making massive investments in clean energy technology."

It was not all about renewable energy the president took time to explain that even if it were feasible to drill ourselves out from high gas prices it would make little difference, hinting that oil speculators are inflating the price of crude.

"A recent independent analysis showed that over the last 36 years, there has been no connection between the amount of oil that we drill in this country and the price of gasoline," Obama said.
