'Man of Steel' Film to Reveal Superman's New Darker Side

Warner Bros has reveled Superman’s darker look in a brand new image for its upcoming “Man of Steel” film set to hit theaters June 14, 2013.

The first photograph of Henry Cavill as the new face of Superman revealed toned down colors compared to Christopher Reeve’s classic blue and red costume. The colors and texture seem very similar to that of the upcoming Spider-Man movie due next year.

The first time Cavill put on the iconic costume he shared with totalfilm.com that he thought to himself, “OK, holy hell, this is real, it’s not a joke anymore. This is it…you’re doing it, you’re right in the middle of it.”

While there have been no plot details released yet, fans can only imagine a darker plot to Superman’s film series with David Samuel Goyer, best known for "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight" and "The Dark Knight Rises”, as the film’s scriptwriter.

With Goyer, Zack Snyder, who made his mark with “300,” “Dawn of the Dead” and “Watchmen,” is taking the role in the director’s chair.

In April the British actor told MTV News during the WonderCon that the “Man of Steel” will “basically just re-imagining and a modernization of an iconic character.”

He concluded that “It’s going to be different, but not so different that it’s unrecognizable.”

“Man of Steel” will also include Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diana Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and Laurence Fishbourne as Perry White. Russell Crowe is rumored to play “Jor-El.”

None of Superman arch nemesis have been listed in the cast so far.
