As expected, they were also eager to analyze the film's redux of the classic costume.

Most observers immediately noticed a few details that do not quite match the comic book heroine's characteristics, such as a lack of claws, and strangely small, un-cat-like ears.

But some meticulous critics decided that the newly leaked shots of the full outfit suggest that Catwoman's glasses flip up to create ear-like points above her head.

In other aspects, the costume falls relatively close to Michelle Pfeiffer's famous Catwoman impersonation of 1992's "Batman Returns," except Hathaway's costume appears more high-tech.

Also, "The Dark Knight Rises" Catwoman costume does not cover Hathaway's hair, making the actress look more feminine.

Batman fans have been anticipating the new film ever since Catwoman was announced to appear in the movie. Many wonder whether Christopher Nolan will adapt the character to his already successful series.

The Selina Kyle character (Catwoman) appeared first in "Batman #1" in 1940 as The Cat. In 1954, she was removed from the comic due to the newly developing Comics Code Authority. The CCA claimed that Kyle violated a code regarding the portrayal of female characters in comics.

Catwoman returned in 1966 and has since been a consistent character in the Batman universe.
