The race to challenge Trump: Warren on the rise; Biden still leads

In recent years, the popular social media website Twitter has become a major venue for national politicians campaigning for office or commenting on public policy battles.

Among the Democratic candidates, Sanders leads with about 9.6 million followers on Twitter, an increase from July when at one point he had approximately 9.38 million followers.

Behind Sanders, all approximations, are Sen. Booker with 4.3 million followers, Biden 3.7 million followers, Harris and Warren both with 3.1 million followers, and best-selling author and spiritualist Marianne Williamson with 2.8 million followers.

Harris and Warren were both below the 3 million follower mark earlier in July, with Harris having about 2.91 million followers and Warren having about 2.8 million followers.
