'The Walking Dead,' 'Fear The Walking Dead' Crossover News: Greg Nicotero Loves The Idea Of Abraham Ford Backstory
As soon as it was announced that a character will crossover between "Fear the Walking Dead" and "The Walking Dead," fans quickly pointed to Abraham Ford as the most likely candidate.
Greg Nicotero, who serves as executive producer and director of the upcoming 100th episode, talked about the massive crossover plans and its most popular theory.
"I love the Abraham theory," Nicotero said in an interview with ComicBook. "I think it's super smart."
As for the crossover, Nicotero says that it's been in the works for a while although he hasn't been able to get on the upcoming story of "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 4 due to his current obligations with the Season 8 finale of "The Walking Dead." According to him, he will probably catch up with Fear after he is done with the finale.
Following Robert Kirkman's announcement during the show's panel at this year's New York Comic Con that a character will crossover between the two shows, theories suggesting Abraham Ford be that character began popping up. The main reason is due to Ford's origins in Houston, Texas is the closest, geographically speaking, to the Mexican-American border area of "Fear the Walking Dead."
The spin-off's season 3 finale even suggested a trip to Houston. And given that the series is a prequel to "The Walking Dead," Ford is very much alive in this timeline. Still, it would be nice to get an official announcement from AMC or Kirkman himself.
However, judging from a recent interview with Fear's showrunner Dave Erickson it seems that Kirkman is the only one who knows the events that will transpire in the much-awaited TV event. When asked about the crossover, his response was "I have no idea. Honestly, your guess is as good as mine."
"The Walking Dead" Season 8 is set to premiere on Oct. 22 while "Fear the Walking Dead" recently concluded its third season last Oct. 15.
