Despite over 10,000 people petitioning for NFL hopeful Tim Tebow to re-sign with the Denver Broncos, that won't happen this season.

Still, the creator of the petition is calling for other NFL teams to take notice and give the Christian quarterback a chance on their roster.

According to ESPN reports, the Broncos have filled their roster with the maximum of 90 players, as of last week. This includes their pursuit of quarterback Paxton Lynch who the team acquired with their first round pick.

While the change.org petition that garnered over 10,000 signatures was addressed to Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak, the team's general manager and media relations personnel, petition creator Will Garner believes other NFL teams should take notice of it.

"10,000 is pretty amazing! We can all be proud of that number," Garner wrote in the petition called, "Denver Broncos: Bring Tebow Back To Denver." "Even if the Broncos don't pick him up, there really are teams that should consider picking him up, as he is better than what many teams have. He deserves a legit shot!"

Tebow was once a starting quarterback who led the Broncos to a playoff run in 2012. Later that year, he signed to the New York Jets before getting picked up by the New England Patriots in 2013, followed by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015.

The Christian athlete has proven his ability as a leader on the field as the University of Florida Gators' starting quarterback who helped the team secure a national championship in 2008. He was also on the team when it won a championship in 2006 and was the first college sophomore to win a Heisman Trophy in 2007, which honors the best football player of a season.

While Tebow currently serves as an SEC college football analyst, he also spends time doing philanthropy work and conducting motivational speeches. Although he has struggled to find his place in the NFL, he previously spoke about being defined by more than just football.

"In the end, football is just a silly game. Greatness comes from serving," Tebow told a crowd of students at a Liberty University convocation in 2013. "You want to be great? Be a servant. You want to be great? Humble yourself."

Tebow, 28, also spoke to high school students receiving awards at the Greenville News' Upstate Sports Awards program in Greenville, South Carolina, earlier this month. He made it clear that the opportunity to play sports doesn't last long.

"You only have so many games, so many opportunities to win a championship.Your career is short, but your life is going to be a lot longer," Tebow said. "I've been fortunate to be part of championships. They don't last forever, but what you do for other people will."
