Tim Tebow Posts Bible Verse on FB Before New York Jets Game

The New York Jets must feel fortunate that the Denver Broncos’ Tim Tebow, the opposing quarterback in the latest edition of Thursday Night Football, will only be attempting to throw the football down the field and not his words.

While his offensive prowess, or lack thereof, always seems to be like chum thrown to sports analysts in the middle of a feeding frenzy, there is no question about his power to deliver the message of his Christian faith quickly and effectively.

On Thursday, just hours before he and the Broncos host the Jets, Tebow posted simply, "Colossians 3:15 GB²" on his Facebook page status box. Just seven hours later and with game time only an hour away, nearly 6,000 people “liked” his one-word, three-number post, and more than 1,000 fans left comments.

Colossians 3:15 NIV reads, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Tebow may not be allowed to wear Scripture notations on his sports eyeliner any more, but he quite regularly posts Bible references on his Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The response has been enormous, including from many of his more than 704,000 fans on Facebook.

One fan of Tebow wrote, “Tim Tebow, I don't think your major battle is the opposing teams, but it is against the Enemy and his tricks. I see you more as a missionary than just the quarterback to save the Broncos. They needed you, and the other Christians involved with the team needed your brotherly support. Good job.”

Another fan posted, “Great quote for today, because we all need peace in our hearts. Tebow I will pray for the Lord's will for the game tonight, but really do hope that yall will win tonight! Tebow again thank you for being an inspiration and continue to prove your doubters wrong!!! Go gettem Tebow!!!”
