Republican candidate Donald Trump won the presidential election against his Democratic challenger Hillary Rodham Clinton, defying numerous polls that predicted otherwise.

Although Trump had previously identified as “very pro-choice,” the GOP presidential nominee changed his views, vowing to nominate Supreme Court justices who would overturn Roe.

Mike Pence, Trump’s vice presidential running mate, went as far as to say at a campaign speech that if Trump was elected, the nation would “see Roe vs. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs.”
