Tullian Tchividjian to Kick Off 3-Day Conference Focused on Message of Grace

The Christian message of grace and love is planned as the focus of the Liberate 2014 conference led by Tullian Tchividjian, senior pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Florida and grandson of Billy Graham.

Organizers say the three-day event, that kicks off today in Fort Lauderdale, promises to be "a spiritually enlightening and engaging event" that will explore God's "one-way love" in Christian life, personal failures, families, the church and pop culture.

"The purpose of the event is to spread and celebrate the message that our relationship with God is based on his one-way, unmerited, unconditional, love for us; his inexhaustible grace for an exhausted world," Rev. Nick Lannon, editor in chief of liberate.org, told The Christian Post.

According to Liberate's website, Tchividjian is focusing on God's grace for this year's theme because "everything in our world demands two-way love. Everything's conditional…this conditionality plagues us at every turn and keeps us enslaved to fear, reservation, and insecurity."

Event leaders have designed the conference to be interactive by including informative discussions, break-out sessions, casual lunches, and a marriage seminar.  In addition to Tchividjian, fourteen speakers will lead the program such as megachurch pastor Matt Chandler, Key Life Network radio personality Steve Brown, children's book author Sally Lloyd-Jones and other church leaders.

Themes for discussion during the event include "Preaching Grace from the Pulpit," "Why We Can't Change the World," and "Grace for the Pastor," among other subjects.

Since its founding in 2012, Liberate has attracted more than 2,500 people from across the U.S. and other countries for interactive conferences focused on discussing relevant church topics. This year, organizers are expecting participants from 41 states and five countries.

In addition to pastoring, Tchividjian (pronounced cha-vi-jin) is a visiting professor of theology at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Miss., and author of Do I Know God? Finding Certainty in Life's Most Important Relationship, Unfashionable: Making a Difference in the World by Being Different, Surprised by Grace: God's Relentless Pursuit of Rebels and more. He is also a contributing editor to Leadership Journal, speaks at conferences throughout the U.S. His sermons are broadcast daily on the radio program Godward Living.
