UFC Rumors 2015: Anderson Silva Returns to the Octagon in February

Anderson Silva lit up the Ultimate Fighting Championship with his utter domination over his opponents. He blitz through competition like how Floyd Mayweather Jr. in boxing did. He is considered by a lot of mixed martial arts experts as the best fighter ever. But when news about him being suspended after testing positive for two anabolic steroids, all of the accomplishments he had in MMA were put to question.

But now that he's coming back, he has the chance to prove that all of it was no fluke.

The Brazilian is reportedly headlining a UFC fight card on Feb. 27 after consummating his one-year suspension, and he's definitely out to chase another championship.

According to UFC President Dana White, Silva is slated to go up against Michael Bisping in London at the O2 Arena. The former 185-pound champion holds the longest title defense streak in the entire history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The only dents to his impressive and storied career in mixed martial arts are his two defeats to Chris Weidman and the drug suspension.

Before the suspension, Silva lost to Weidman for the second time and in the process broke his leg. He returned early this year and won a decision against Nick Diaz. It was at this time when he was suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission for steroid use.

In Bisping, Silva will be going up against a fighter, who like him, joined the UFC back in 2006. But after a decade fighting in the Octagon, the two haven't actually met and fought, so this one in London should be a pretty interesting affair.

Before the confirmation of this fight, Bisping was originally slated to face Gegard Mousasi, but Dana White changed his mind and instead put the English fighter in the 185-pound division against the veteran Silva.
Mousasi is still part of the fight card, but there is still no official opponent confirmed by the promotion.
