Bobbi Kristina to Skip Father's Wedding

Aspiring singer Bobbi Kristina will not be attending the upcoming wedding of her father, Bobby Brown, to his girlfriend and manager Alicia Etheridge.

Brown is set to wed Etheridge this weekend while on tour with his band New Edition in Hawaii, but reports are speculating that Bobbi Kristina will not be attending the nuptials as she is busy shooting in New York City for an upcoming reality show.

The New York Post reports that Bobbi Kristina has been growing apart from her father since her mother, Whitney Houston, died in a Los Angeles hotel. The paper also writes that the aspiring singer "wants nothing to do" with her father's wedding.

In May Bobby Brown sat down for an exclusive interview with the "TODAY" show's Matt Lauer to discuss Bobbi Kristina and to dispel rumors that he was responsible for getting his ex-wife addicted to drugs.

Brown told the talk show host that although his daughter is struggling with the loss of her mother that she is a "strong girl" and said that he was not concerned that Bobbi Kristina would be turning to drugs to deal with the loss.

"I think people are making assumptions about what my daughter is, how strong she is," Brown told Lauer. "People tend to want to control strong-willed people. And that's what I see."

Brown also used the opportunity to dispel rumors that he was responsible for Houston's drug use, telling the talk show host that drugs had been a part of Houston's life "way before" the two started dating.

"I didn't get high before I met Whitney. I smoked weed, I drank beer, but no, I wasn't the one that got Whitney on drugs at all," Brown told Lauer.

"It's just … it's just unexplainable how one could, you know, (say that I) got her addicted to drugs. I'm not the reason she's gone," the singer added.

Houston, 48, was found submerged in a bathtub at her Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel room on Feb. 11, the day before the Grammy Awards. Her cause of death was ruled as accidental drowning following a massive heart attack caused in part by years of prolonged and excessive drug abuse.
