Thoughts on patriotism and the Olympics
It becomes more difficult, though, when we’re aware that some of our athletes despise what our flag stands for. Or if we’re wondering what they’ll do if they medal and get to the platform. Should we be proud of their stunning athletic accomplishment or should we cringe?
What’s so bad about encouraging female modesty?
And doesn’t this youth pastor himself still have his own set of rules? (“No buns, bananas, or breasts need to be seen.”) Put another way, what’s the difference between his asking, “Why is a little cleavage sinful?” and someone else asking, “Why is a lot of cleavage sinful?” After all, why do men have to be so obsessed with women’s breasts?

Americans have good reason not to trust the media
What this should mean to all of us who, in any way, report on the news is simple: we need to do our best to be as accurate and unbiased as we can be, making clear where the news stops and our opinions begin. And we need to encourage pushback and scrutiny and dialogue and debate. Otherwise, we do everyone a disservice.
America, if you want to know what’s coming next, look to Canada and be forewarned
In some respects, Canada has been a step ahead of America in terms of moral and cultural decline. That means that what happens in Canada today—and I mean what happens in the most negative sense—could well be coming to America tomorrow.
