Barbara Walters Names 'Most Fascinating People' 2013; Kim K, Miley, Jennifer Lawrence Ranked

Barbara Walters released her annual list of most interesting people in the world for 2013 on Monday.

The "Most Fascinating People of 2013" includes a diverse list of names ranging from the new leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, to the four-month-old British royal baby Prince George.

Each year, Walters selects 10 personalities from pop culture, television trends, politics and sports while compiling her highly anticipated list, and 2013 is no exception. However, the tenth person on the list will not be revealed by Walters until Dec. 18 during a 90-minute special television program.

Adding to the anticipation, the 84-year-old iconic journalist is preparing to retire next year, and this year's list will be her very last.

Among the most fascinating people this year are ABC anchor Robin Roberts, Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, and "Kimye"-- the name given to the famous couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Also listed this year was long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad and NSA leaker Edward Snowden.

Barbara Walters' full list of the Most Fascinating People of 2013 is as follows:

Robin Roberts
Jennifer Lawrence
The stars of "Duck Dynasty"
Miley Cyrus
Pope Francis
Prince George
Diana Nyad
Kimye
Edward Snowden

Meanwhile, Walters announced the upcoming end of her five-decade-long career with an announcement earlier this year.

"I am very happy with my decision," Walters said in a statement. "And look forward to a wonderful and special year ahead."

The journalist's retirement will also mark the end of her co-hosting duties on ABC's "The View."

"I do not want to appear on another program or climb another mountain," the veteran ABC News anchor added. "I want instead to sit on a sunny field and admire the very gifted women- and, okay, some men, too- who will be taking my place."

A special send-off is expected for Walters, as well as a formalized tribute, said to take place in May 2014.
