Elise Stefanik

In a Nov. 12 X post, Trump announced Elise Stefanik as his pick to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Stefanik, who represents New York’s 21st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, is also chair of the House Republican Conference. She was first elected to her seat in 2014 and has easily won reelection five times.

Trump described Stefanik as “a strong and very smart America First fighter.” He predicted that “She will be an incredible Ambassador to the United Nations, delivering Peace Through Strength and America First National Security policies!”

If confirmed, Stefanik’s seat would remain vacant until a special election takes place.
